The present building dates from the 1860s and replaced another pub on the same site. The interior has been completely reshaped since State Management days although the exterior remains fairly unaltered. Prior to the Scheme, the interior was a series of small smoke rooms and sitting rooms/snugs with a separate room for a bar. Subsequently, the small rooms were removed and replaced with one open room with a long bar — one of the Scheme’s innovations.
